The Afro Asian Cultural Museum, established in 2001, attempts to embrace and celebrate the diversity of cultures by providing detailed information about African and Asian countries. The information is supplemented by cultural artefacts from those countries. It begins with the description of African countries and has a large display dedicated to Indian artefacts, after which it moves on to the rest of Asia. Each infographic contains the name of the country, its flag, its national anthem, it is capital state, population, and certain cultural aspects that stand out about it. The infographics and artefacts are also divided up into different regions such as the Middle East section for Africa, and the South East Asian Section for Asia, among others.
The museum has kiosks with audio-visual information at different places inside. The museum is frequented by school and college-going students. It is managed and funded the Symbiosis Society, which was founded in 1971 by Padma Bhushan Dr S. B. Mujumdar as the International Cultural and Educational Center to bring together Asian and African students who studied in the colleges established by Symbiosis. The museums are now managed by their director, Mrs S.S. Mujumdar.
