Located in Karimnagar, the Gandhi Centenary Museum was established in 1969 on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s hundredth birth anniversary. However, the museum is not a specialized Gandhi museum. The collection, in its heterogeneity, includes stone tools (dating back to 3000 years), coins, terracotta figurines, arms and weapons retrieved and relocated from excavations at Peddabankur, Dhulikatta and Kotilingala in the Karimnagar district in Telangana. 2 million year old fossils of ancient fish and trees from Vemanapalli, Muknur and Kamanapalli can also be found at the museum along with remnants of Neolithic such as tools, bricks, pottery and jewellery (excavated from Dhulikatta, Peddabankur and Kotilingala). The museum also has a numismatic gallery, located in the central hall, that displays coins ranging from the Pre-Mauryan period to the period of British Raj. Other exhibits of interest include arms and ammunition used by the Nizams of Hyderabad, Jain and Buddhist idols from the 2nd century CE, a 12th century Anjaneya statue from Peddabankur and a 7th century statue of the twenty-third Jain Tirthankara, Parsvanatha, in the Sallekhana posture (excavated from Gangadhara).

Initially, the museum housed rare artefacts collected by the State Archaeological Museum in Hyderabad, which later started excavations at ancient sites such as Koti Lingala, Dhulikatta, Pedda Bunkur, Nagunuru and other parts of Karimnagar district and displayed the unique recoveries at this museum. One can also observe the cutlery items which were made of mud and used by the people of Satavahana dynasty at the museum. The museum also has rare coins such as punch marked ones used by the Satavahana dynasty as well Buddhist artefacts that were recovered from various parts of the district, including jade and bidri ware used widely by dynastic rulers.
